What is Jon’s Garage? What is our mission?
Jon's Garage is a nonprofit organization dedicated to honoring the lives of Jon L. and Jon R. by sharing their passion for cars and their many other interests with the community. Through creative outreach like our Hot Wheels initiative, Wheels in the Wild, engaging events, and collaborative donations, we aim to inspire connection, joy, and remembrance. Our mission is to build a growing, interactive community that celebrates curiosity, kindness, and the love of discovery—one tiny car at a time.

Finding cars from Jon’s Garage

I found a car from Jon’s Garage, what should I do?
Congrats on finding a car! You can choose to either keep the car and give it a new loving home, or move it to a new location so it can continue its road trip. Either way, we’d love for you to share a photo with us and let us know where you found your car! Please visit the Wheels in the Wild page for more information.

When will my photo submission be added to the photo gallery on the Wheels in the Wild page?
Photo submissions should be added to the photo gallery within 24-48 hours after being submitted. If you do not see your image after 48 hours, please reach out to us via email or Instagram/Facebook direct message.

Where can we stay updated on where to locate cars from Jon’s Garage?
We will post any updates on our social media pages, please be sure to follow us on Facebook and Instagram to keep updated! We will share updates when we put out new cars and will share where others have found cars on our social media pages as well. We will also share found cars on the Wheels in the Wild page. You can also check our Events page to see any events we will be attending and handing cars out at.

Please note, our organization is currently in the process of applying for Federal and California tax exemption, but we are not an exempt organization yet and any donations made are not currently tax deductible

What locations are good to move the cars to after we find them?
Some great places to move Jon’s Garage cars include parks, community gathering spots (like community gardens or downtown areas), museums, libraries, and vacation destinations. When choosing a spot, please remember: our goal is for kids and families to easily find, play with, and enjoy the cars — and then pass that joy on by moving them to a new location. Be sure to leave cars in safe, kid-friendly areas that are visible and welcoming.

What type of photos would you like us to share?
We’d love to see photos of the cars in the locations where you found or moved them — and feel free to include yourself or your family in the shots, too! We especially love seeing the cars on vacation or special outings, so if you're bringing some along on a trip, please share photos of their journey as well. These moments help tell the story of where our cars have been!

Donations

How can I donate?
Please visit our Donations page to see all the options for donating.

Please note, our organization is currently in the process of applying for Federal and California tax exemption, but we are not an exempt organization yet and any donations made are not currently tax deductible

What will any monetary donations be used for?
Any donations we receive will be used towards furthering our mission. You may donate to purchase cars to place in your area, $3 = 1 car, or donations may also be used for operating costs, event expenses, and other organization related expenses.

Can I donate physical Hot Wheels cars to Jon’s Garage?
Absolutely! Please send us an email and we can share a shipping address or set up a time/place to meet. We are currently only accepting donations of metal diecast cars since they will be placed outdoors and will need to be able to withstand weather conditions.

How can I help place Hot Wheels in my area?
We would love to send you some cars to place in your area! Please visit our donations page to place an order with us.

Does Jon’s Garage currently accept business donations or partnerships?
We do not currently accept business donations or partnerships, but this is something we are actively working towards.
